Finally got one of my holy grail.. The MIH watch
I have always wanted the MIH watch. I love the understated design while hiding a complication that can only be found on more expensive watch. I always thought that I would get it when I go to baselworld, but I got it from a fellow "Purist" who sold it to me at a very reasonable price.. and its Brand New! I love the experience of buying 2nd hand watch as you get to meet fellow watch lovers and chit chat about watches.

Grand Seiko Launches worldwide
Grand Seiko is now available to everyone in the world. They have now gone international and a english site is created.
That is very good news to me as I was planning to go Japan for holiday this couple of years and get a Grand Seiko over there. Now that it is available here in Singapore, I don't have to get it in Japan anymore. I just hope the price is reasonable here in Singapore.
These are my 2 favourite Grand Seiko:

Hu-Blow
Met a friend at Marina Square on Friday..
Friend: Where are you going?
Me: I want to go MBS to have a look at the Hub-lot (as in ballot) boutique. I heard today is the official opening.
Friend: What? what "brr-lot?
Me: Err.. Hub-blow?
Friend: Its pronounced as Hu-Blow.
I always knew I pronounce Hublot wrongly but I just love to pronounce it as Hub-lot as I felt it sounds better than Hu-Blow.
Hublot is also my favourite brand. In fact, it was the brand that bought me into the horology world. The particular watch in fact was the Rose Gold Hublot Big Bang.
I just love how the colour combine together. The red needle with gold letterings on a black carbon fiber dial. The black ceramic bezel on a rose gold watch is just the perfect combination.

The Holy Grail
Everyone talks about the Holy Grail, the timepiece that will end all search for any time piece. The ultimate one that you will buy:
1) when I am rich and successful!
2) when I can tell people I have made it!
3) *insert reason*
At the beginning of my horology journey, I was averaging a watch a month for 6 months. I was buying cheap watches which I could afford easily. The watch of my dreams, my Holy Grail, was to me at that moment unattainable. I simply could not reason paying such a price for my dream watch.
But at the end of the 6 months, I pulled the trigger to get my Holy Grail.
Why did I do so? Because I was "tricked" by forumers telling me that I should not waste money getting cheaper timepieces to satisfy the craving but instead to save up and get the Holy Grail.
That make sense of course! But I have come to realise that once you get your Holy Grail, the next one comes along! And like what I learn in running.. Once you pass a limit say 10km, 5 km seems easy and you'll be aiming to run 15km the next time. Similarly, once you spend 10k on a timepiece, 5k seems cheap and you'll be aiming to spend 15k the next time.
As I read more watch magazines, surf the net and reading forums, my Holy Grail is no longer the Holy Grail but Holy GrailS...

The Singapore F1 2010
In about a couple more weeks starting on the 24 September 2010, the 3rd Singapore F1 Grand Prix night race will begin! Ever since the Singapore F1 Grand Prix night race started in 2008, many watch brands have made watches specially to commemorate the event.
Most famous of them all, we have the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Singapore F1 Grand Prix. Inspired by racing, the AP F1 watch is made from forged carbon and is limited to 250 pieces.
This year, the most impressive of all F1 commerorative watch has arrived. The up and coming brand, Hublot, lead by CEO Jean-Claude Biver, has manage to score another sports partnership as "The Official Watchmaker of Formula 1". Launched as the 1st official F1 watch of Hublot, we have the Hublot F1 King Power.
Look at this beauty!
Typical of the Hublot Big Bang series, this watch is 48mm and is made from Zirconium. The bezel is made to resemble the F1 ceramic disc brakes. The strap is made from rubber on the internal and Nomex on the external. Nomex is a material used to construct the driving suits wore by the drivers.
This is truely the most beautiful and best designed watch of the F1!
